Echo

As I hear an echo

left years ago with desire

a soft breeze reminds

my heart the fire

has died.

I think I should just

pluck out what’s left

watch as it crawls away

into the pit of hell

at long last say

good riddance.

But each morning after coffee

Pop Tarts and kisses from Blu,

life looks like an interesting challenge

so I crank up some tunes

put some extra sugar in a spoon

stir it around in my cup

and simply say shucks

take a walk to the river

time to embrace nature.

On an old upright piano, I attempted to play Hallelujah, to accompany some nature photos. Recorded in 2019.
