Wrapped up

Wrapped up in yesterdays

I find you once more

washing dishes, mopping floors

being a tidy wife.

How simple, life

but the most beautiful part

was when you stole my heart.

Difficult to understand sometimes

how the planets aligned

to bring you to me

wrapped up like a gift

under a Christmas tree.

You always ignited my fire

placed hope in my eyes

that you would be mine to keep

for a lifetime with passionate desire

wrapped in your arms.

Yes, I’m a thief stealing yesterdays

taking liberty to explore memories

I only wish I could heal this pain

of missing you and explain

how life is without you.

burn baby burn
