The mind

Over the years a mind consumes

then suddenly loses itself

along with memories promised

to keep.

Oh how the spirit fights

to retain within heart

cherished moments, exchanged smiles

sleepy good mornings

soft goodnights.

Longing settles in to return

to the mind of happier times

fishing at Bear Lake in the Rockies

later telling about the one

that got away.
