Toiling towards
another crop of corn
tractor resting from the heat
of a scorching sun
horse trailer idle, waits return
of hoofs to transport
to a mountain trail of fun.
Yellow, a barn, roof red
sheds hold tools
for mending fences
saddles and spurs, reins
waiting for a rider
like a horse out on the range.
Dawn breaks once again
prayers answered, blessings return
from a most powerful one
who gives strength with rays of sun
to help towards tending to
what must be done
as the sky smiles blue.
